Thanks to Collette for making a special stop for HLOKC Oklahomans. The "Kindred Spirits" feather sculpture in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland, commemorates the generosity of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, who donated money and grain to help starving Irish people during the Great Famine of 1847. The sculpture features nine stainless steel eagle feathers forming a bowl to symbolize a gift of food and the bond between the two cultures.
“A stop in Midleton, Ireland, was not on the Collette Travel itinerary. But when we asked to stop at the ‘Kindred Spirits’ feather sculpture in County Cork, the tour manager made a slight detour so we could see it. This is just one example of how Collette has been very accommodating.”
